Join Cassandra O’Neal, keyboardist, vocalist, and former member of Prince’s New Power Generation band for this exciting master class. Become a band for the evening and jam out to your favorite Prince songs under Cassandra’s guidance. In addition to helping participants hone in on their inner funkiness, she’ll share personal anecdotes of what it was like to work closely with the man himself.
The workshop is open to guitar, bass, drum kit, keyboard and horns but please note that there will be a limit of 2 bass players, 2 keyboardists and 2 drum kit players. Participants will be expected to rotate in and out of playing on different songs if multiple people sign up for the same instrument.
Cassandra O’Neal, is a keyboardist, singer, composer, musical director and producer whose roots in gospel and jazz have lead her to a professional career working with R&B, pop and gospel music’s biggest acts, namely Prince. She played a major role in the New Power Generation Band in the years leading up to Prince’s death and following his passing, has decided to get more involved in another passion of hers- teaching!
She currently tours with LeAnne Rimes, and has also worked with such artists as Pink, 98 Degrees, Kurt Carr & the Kurt Carr Singers, Helen Baylor, Avant, and Chante Moore. She was also named musical director for Macy Gray (2004-2007) and Mary J. Blige joining Jay-Z on the “Heart of the City” Tour in 2008.
