The Yoruba Andabo Company is one of the premiere Afro-Cuban rumba groups in the world. In town for their Chicago debut at the Old Town School on Saturday, January 16th (see related events to the right). Members of this historic group will be conducting an introductory workshop on Afro-Cuban dance. Yoruba Andabo represents the African roots of Cuban culture teaching styled including Conga, Yoruba, Abakua and the full range of rumba, with its traditional rhythms and dance, especially Yambu, Guaguancó and Columbia. This class will stress the basics of Afro-Cuban dance but is open to all levels of experience. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to share with true masters of the Afro-Cuban tradition!
